Structure

CPC operates at three levels: a National Board; Provincial and Territorial Divisions and Chapters.

A National Board represents the concerns of the Divisions and their Chapters to the federal government and other national organizations. The National Board will work to establish a Division in each province and territory. The National Headquarters Office is currently in Charlottetown, PEI.

Divisions may be formally established by the National Board to represent a province or territory. Divisions shall accept the National Constitution and Bylaws. The Division President or designate is automatically a member the CPC National Board.

There may be more than one Division in a province or territory. There can be several Chapters within each Division.

Role and Function

CPC is a non-profit, voluntary organization that advocates on behalf of pensioners. The business of the organization is administered by a National Board of Directors. The Directors are elected at the organization’s Annual General Meeting from the membership.

Communication

Divisions advise the National Board on critical policy issues and collaborate to obtain the successful resolution of the issues at a national level. Divisions play a consultative, advisory, informational, educational and intermediary role vis-a-vis the provincial, territorial and municipal governments and organizations.

Elected Boards decide the policies and activities of all three levels and join in coalitions for common causes.

CPC is a founding member of a national Congress, which is made up of the Presidents of National Seniors’ Organizations. The Congress provides expert advice to the federal government.

Meetings

An Annual General Meeting is held every 15 months. At least one Board meeting is held every year and teleconferences are arranged as required.

Affiliations and Coalitions

To consolidate policies and strategies, and to present a unified from on issues of mutual concern, CPC has a number of chapters at each level and from time to time joins in coalitions for a common cause. In unity there is Strength!

CPC/RCEA Structure

Canadian Pensioners Concerned operates at three levels: national, provincial and local affiliates. Member’s at all three levels support each other within this framework. Elected Boards decide the policies and activities of all three levels and join in coalitions for common causes.
